Abstract

The present work digs into the shaping and the meaning of identity in social movements, in the organizational and communicational practices assumed by these movements for their operation, and in the elements involved in the construction of frameworks for the interpretation of reality expressed through these actions. Our observation and analysis will be based on a social movement known as RATT (Red de Alto a la Trata y al Tráfico de Personas), taking as a theoretical standpoint the social structuring model of the Network Society. For this purpose, we adopted a double methodology. On the one hand, we relied on the technique of triangulation to survey the communicational practices, spaces, norms, values and notions around identity which are assumed by the RATT. On the other hand, we resort to the methodological proposal from the framing theory to study the elements that intervene in the construction of the frameworks for the interpretation of reality that are put to circulation through the movement’s collective identity.
