IV Intercultural Universities Meeting

Abstract

This review analyzes the experience of the “IV Intercultural Universities Meeting”, which took place in the city of Xalapa (Veracruz) on 18-20 of September of 2017. The event was organized by Academic Body of Intercultural Studies of the Educational Research Institute and by the Intercultural University Veracruzana (UVI). The program was divided into three main working tables, the first being a dialogue about the state of the art of higher education in Mexico. The second one was composed by thirteen simultaneous workshops. The tables were coordinated by professors and students of the UVI. The third and final one was a presentation of the conclusions and proposals of the previous tables. The meeting was a space of interchange of different knowledges and allowed the gathering of nine Mexican intercultural universities (IU), as well as governmental actors, such as the INALI, and of pioneer academics in the intercultural program. The working dynamic permitted the reflect about the current situation of the Mexican Ius, providing the achieved results, the challenges faced, the management tasks, and research undertaken by professors and students in the IU.
