Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to reflect on the notion of race as a political category and its possible contributions to think education from Our America. In the first place, the idea of politics is approached, taking up the contributions of different authors that allow us to sustain a broad/extensive notion of the term that is not limited to institutional/ state politics and that allow us to situate the notion of race as a political category. Then, the notion of race itself is analyzed, taking into account the contributions of Latin American thinkers that allow an approach taking into account our own social-historical reality. Finally, and by way of inquiry, the contributions that this category can make to reflection in the educational field are analyzed.
