Abstract

This work is part of the research Project: Adolescence and youth: process of social construction of identities, diversities and contemporary inequalities. Approaches in urban and rural contexts in Santiago del Estero” (2019-2020) (Approved and financed CICYT UNSE-23/D 214). Its objective is to describe and explore the labor participation of young people from Santiago, articulating the contextual and structural dimensions of the first two decades of the 21st century. Based on a quantitative analysis, the characteristics of the labor situation of the provincial youth population (adolescents and young people aged 15-29 years) are addressed, focusing on the conditions of activity, employment, unemployment, according to sociodemographic heterogeneities, educational and urban and rural areas of residence in the Province of Santiago del Estero, using the National Population and Housing Censuses 2001, 2010 and projections based on the latter and EPH 2016- 2020 as data sources.
