In the following paper we present a review of the Forum of Popular Universities, as well as of different movements and organizations that have given life to counter-hegemonic initiatives, many of which have been embodied in Popular Universities as a particular type of resistance to epistemic domination of the so-called “Global North”. Finally, we focus on two Argentine experiences: the workshops of the Popular University of Social Movements in Cordoba and the creation of the Popular University of Barrios de Pie, which represents a clear example that popular organization can contribute to intercultural political education, to the promotion of reflection, of the democratic debate of ideas and, ultimately, to social emancipation.
