This article describes and analyses two autonomous educational projects arising from academic-activist networks of ethno-political movements. The Free University Mapuche (Universidad Libre Mapuche) in Santiago de Chile and the University of Southern Peoples (Universidad de los Pueblos del Sur) in the State of Guerrero, Mexico, operate under a framework of ethno-political movement and educational autonomy, in which they develop teaching strategies based on their particular social struggle understood as geopedagogics. Considering their own context of mobilization, as well as the political, social and cultural structure of their country, we examine the political-educational designs and strategic discourses of social transformation proposed by each of these two projects.
