In this regard, it is imperative to ensure equity and social justice, especially in the case of schools in a situation of particular socioeducational vulnerability. There are multiple mechanisms and areas on which to act. In this article we analyze the importance given in recent years to the role of educational leadership in the improvement of schools, focusing on the so-called leadership for social justice, the pedagogical and distributed leadership. There is a consensus in the literature on the relationship between these types of leadership and the improvement of student learning. We also conduct a review of research on good practices of educational leadership for the inclusion and social justice. Among the findings we highlight the importance of the school management team being focused on improving teaching and student learning, distributing the leadership among the whole educational community. All of this contributes to ensure a learning in and for equality, fighting against social inequalities.
