Abstract

The article is the result of the doctoral research “Origin and construction of identities in the Gauchito Gil de Salta “neighborhood” (2009-2017). Constitution of practices and social representations in processes of territorial appropriations”. It focused on the Gauchito Gil neighborhood, in the southeast area of the city of Salta, Argentina. It was taken as a period of analysis from its origin as a “settlement” in 2009 to 2017, accounting for its construction as a “neighborhood”. It was proposed to understand how Salta’s subordinate social actors decide to unite and occupy a territory. This through the analysis of the ways of territorializing the neighbors and the ways of constructing social representations, which directly affects the conformation of the always dissimilar identities but which unite it as a collective. The aim of this work was to understand the new urban processes of the city from the 1990s until today.
