Abstract

This paper examines how ethnographic research with children have contributed to knowledge production in Argentina. It analyses individual studies to illuminate the ways in which collaboration with children have led to the formulation of original ethnographic research questions and the study of unexplored themes. Furthermore, it unfolds how collaboration takes place: as dialogue, or as co-research/co-authorship. To do so, firstly, it depicts findings of different studies where collaboration with children was crucial. Secondly, it focuses on the description of the research process of several studies in order to illustrate the methodological trajectories and decisions that allowed researchers to record children’s perspectives and shape their research findings. Finally, after recognising the centrality of children´s collaboration in ethnographic knowledge production, we map different challenges and potential ways to move forward of ethnographic research with children.
