Between languages, cultures and knowledge: strengthening the latin american identity of science teachers
Keywords:

In this report, I describe the experience in a graduate course that had as one of its main objectives to promote the strengthening of the Latin American identity. Starting from my own origins and academic history, I contextualize how the idea of constituting the discipline came about. Subsequently, I discuss how Latin America has been a territory of struggles and conflicts from which emerges the urgent need to strengthen our regional identity and to restructure Science Education. Finally, I present some reflections on Science Education in Latin America based on statements made by students of the subject. From this experience, I could perceive that the readings, discussions and activities carried out, beyond providing skills for the comprehension of texts in Spanish, promoted the identification of the participants as Latin American citizens and teachers, which led us, too, to reflect on our professional responsibility and our role as agents of transformation.
