Abstract

In this article we present the Mapuche educational history of the Wallmapu and its fragmentation with the settler colonialism of the Chilean State. Then we focus on mapping the university as an institution in Wallmapu, we address in a critical and purposeful sense the access and inclusion policies in Chilean universities, as well as the policies from the State (scholarships, student residences) and how it has managed the demand for higher education. We maintain that the inequities of access and permanence in Chilean higher education are based on racism, mono-culturality, patriarchy and a deep detachment from the territories where they are located. Finally, we present the most contemporary needs on higher education, own or counter-hegemonic, as well as the examination made by the Mapuche movement for installing an anti-racist and anti-patriarchal approach to higher education.
