Fear and violence in youth engagements

This article aims to analyze from a socio-educational perspective the existing relationships between fears and the different manifestations of violence that take place in couple relationships that make up students from two peripheral urban hig schools in the City of La Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The youth narratives, obtained through in-depth interviews, allow us to examine the way in which the humiliation and inferiority situations that they experience in this type of relationship structure practices of silencing and feelings that refer to a negative self-evaluation of oneself. The interviewees value the role of the school as a social space of recognition. They affirm that intra and inter-generational containment networks are configured there, which, inserted in the broader social context, constituted by families, friends, affinity groups, enable the development of collective strategies aimed at transforming the suffering that they experience.
