Young, uncertainty and challenges

Abstract

The article presents a research in which the graduate thesis Possibilities and Limitations Perceived by Young Men / Women Related to the Continuity and / or Alternative Studies and / or Work or other Forms of Living, for the Licenciatura in Educational Sciences, National University of Salta, in the period 1999 – 2002 of a group of young graduate and future graduates of a rural high school, located in a town south in the Province of Salta. It seeks to describe and analyze the possibilities and limitations of young men / women related to the continuity and study possibilities, by getting jobs or other ways of earning their living after high school from their own perspective, and also from their neighbors and teachers one, from descriptions and questions that they expressed, from a qualitative point of view. From our perspective, we think that school, in the lives of young men / women in a rural population such as the one studied, has effects on subjectivity and helps in the co - construction of living strategies. At the same time we recognize that these effects are conditioned by different kinds of capital unevenly distributed within the group of students and families.
