Being and teaching in a hospital in the province of Jujuy
Keywords:

The institutionalisation of Hospital Education in the province of Jujuy as a modality introduced other ways of thinking about “school” and other ways of “being and doing teaching”, based on the conditions of a particular socio-educational context. The meanings about the professional identity of teachers of primary school students in a situation of illness are constructed within the framework of transformations in the structure of the National and Provincial Education System and other social, political, economic and cultural mutations. It positions teachers as subjects belonging to different socio-cultural formations in the same professional context, in this case, the Jujuy Maternity and Children’s Hospital. A space where particular ways of experiencing the teaching profession are constituted and where the limitations and contradictions of initial teacher training are clarified. A space that also allows pain to emerge in the face of the suffering of the “other”, certainties in the act of teaching and the struggle against illness.
